Professional Development

As a business club and a member of the Shidler College of Business's Inter-Business Council, it is AMA's main goal to develop our members professionally. Being able to market one's self is key in future success. With this in mind, AMA-UHM hosts a variety of professional events, such as mixers, workshops, and company tours. Any inquiries about professional events or if you would like to host a company tour or workshop, please contact our Vice President of Professional Development, Neil Blas at pd.amauhm@gmail.com

Guest Speakers & Workshops

During general meetings, the American Marketing Association offers a variety of workshops to help our members with professional advice. Workshops range from lessons on professional dress, financial management, and even entrepreneurial stories. Events such as mock interviews and resume workshops give our members the opportunity to receive first hand advice from human resource and hiring managers.

Company Tours

In the past, AMA-UHM has had the opportunity to tour Hawaii companies including Hawaiian Airlines, Disney Aulani Resorts, Surf Jack Hotels, and Anthology. These tours have given our members the opportunity to see how businesses run first hand. Employees are able to answer questions and give advice for future employment.

Professional Mixers

Our chapter hosts a variety of mixers both with alumni and professionals to allow our members the opportunity to network with industry professionals. The largest event, typically held at the end of the semester, Professional Interaction Night is a dinner in which members are paired up with various professionals and are open to discuss business, ask questions, and inquire about internship or career opportunities.

Internships & Careers

embers of the American Marketing Association are given chances and opportunities to intern and various Hawaii based companies. These internships and jobs are not only marketing positions but are also suitable for finance, accounting, and management majors alike.
